SLO(w)food: Project presentation

The project SLO(w)food shows the importance of regional cuisine as a marker of a regional identity in the context of the formation of a national-local cuisine. Based on the empirical survey conducted in the project, a typology of local cuisine was generated, which we would like to present in more detail.

Great dishes of the #CarinthianSlovenianKitchen were enjoyed during the project presentation SLO(w)food. From Heidennudeln, a Gaitaler Kirchtagssuppe from the "Gasthaus zur Post" or a fine roast veal from Lojze Wieser, the evening brought not only good food, but also many stories and a lot of interesting information about traditional dishes, productions and cuisines.

We say thank you for the wonderful evening, perfect organization and cooperation with SGZ-Slovenska!

Food (culinary) is one of our oldest cultural achievements, which has always been linked to space and spatial amenities. It is therefore a core element of regional and local life and is essential for sustainable identity-creating spatial development. A regional and spatially embedded culinary arts generates vibrant multifunctional and economically vital places. It creates a living building and eating culture that strengthens regional identity.

Often, kitchens or particular dishes are inextricably linked to local contexts and cuisine furnishings, representing nations, regions, or cities. All of this can have a direct influence on the economic development of various industries, whereby the food culture through its identity formation and strengthening, can develop, change and enrich the economy of the region.

Slovenian Business Association Carinthia

The Slovenian Business Association was founded in 1988 by merchants and members of the liberal professions from the ranks of the Slovenian National Community in Carinthia as a non-partisan economic umbrella organization of the Carinthian Slovenes. Today, the SGZ has about 350 members from the Alps-Adriatic region, who come from all sectors of the economy. In addition, the SGZ has good contacts with chambers of commerce and crafts in Slovenia, Austria and Italy and acts as the official Slovenian business club in Austria.
